thank you for welcome. Just want to say "Hello!" and introduce myself:
I am Christopher from Darmstadt, Germany, and Iīm sorry for my bad english Whipmaking and cracking are my favorite hobbies (so please have some patience with me ) - for me the right balance to my job.
Unfortunately the last professional whipmaker of Germany has died in 2006. Now, the whole knowledge from many gernerations of traditional german whipmaking is gone...sad but true. So I try to keep up a little bit of this knowledge - as good as I can...still marvel, learning and practise.
Thatīs all for the monent.
Kindest regards from Germany,
Christopher

Hi Chris
Thanks for the Welcome - I'm looking forward to an interesting association with your site.
Although I'm not into whipmaking, my main interest is knotting and braidwork - both leather and cord. My largest braid to date is a 121-strand pentalpha solidbraid bellrope. I would like to extend my knowledge of working with leather which is quite basic at the moment, although my general knowledge of knotting and braiding is quite high.
However, my wife and I will be visiting Australia in a few months time, intending to be Grey Nomads doing the Big Lap for a year. We would like to be able to meet as many knotty/braiding folk as possible, maybe at shops or shows, or wherever. Can you help with regard to any websites which may have some useful information for us.
My name is Laurie, I live on Vancouver Island in Canada. Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. Look forward to chatting and learning all I can from all of the talented artists here.
